come on in, the water's fine

We've been swimming quite a lot at our newly opened Coburg Olympic Pool. The season got off to a slow start, with all that cold weather. Then one day after Christmas, I decided that warm or not, we just had to go for a swim. It was fabulous. Once we got in. The getting in was the hard bit, but seriously after that, it was truly fantastic. And it's lovely to look around and see lots of people using the pool.

I've also managed to sneak in a solo visit and swim some laps, followed by some time out under the big shady trees with a book. The view to the creek is most restful. I highly recommend it. There's also a basket ball pad and a barbeque, both of which seem to be getting good use.

So if you haven't been down for a swim yet, come on in, the water's fine.

  1. Yes, it would be lovely to sneak down to the pool after work... except it wont be open. Some people will never get to Coburg Olympic Pool due to the (lack of) opening hours.

  2. Couldn't agree more Les! All I can suggest that if it is hot, the pool maybe open later than usual and it may be worth giving them a ring to check.
And now that the pool is actually open, we can begin to campaign for extended opening hours.

  3. Maybe we could update the petition on this site? Of course it is now out of data - but only needs a little re-wording to make it about longer hours (and other resourcing issues)?
Agree that the re-opening is a great step forward and the achievements of this movement are to be commended. I have in fact been to the pool on a couple of Sundays. Actually turned up there at about 4.30 one Sunday and got let in for free! I just can't believe that I can't come home from work and jump in the pool... very frustrating (and I don't even live in Pentridge... they must be going out of their minds those people!).
